What is the difference between Electrocautery and Electrosurgery?
So, the topic that has been taken up here for discussion is a very common one as many people are seen confused with these two procedures given here in the question. But there are certain differences in both the procedures and one needs to know them if, belongs to the medical field.
So, to start with the topic of
differences between electrocautery and electro surgery we will get started with
the basics that are the definitions of both the medical procedures.
To define electrocautery in simple
words we can say that it is a procedure through which direct or alternate
current is passed through the metal wire electrode this way heat is produced.
This particular medical process is used along with some minor Surgeries in the
fields of dermatology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, and
urology.
Now to define electro surgery in
simple words we can say that it is a term used for the description of multiple
modalities that work with the help of electricity causing thermal destruction
of the tissue in the human body.
So, these definitions do show a
slight difference in both the procedures but to know more in deep regarding the
differences between both of them here we will be discussing them here in points
under the guidance of the experienced surgical equipment manufacturer.
The points of differentiation between the Electrocautery and the
Electrosurgery are as follows:
·
In
the case of an Electrocautery, the heat coming through the electric current is
used for the metal wire that metal wire is further used on the tissue that is
to be burnt. In order to explain more we can say that in this process the
current is not passed through the tissue but it is directly shot to that
particular area of the tissue that needs the treatment.
·
In
the case of an Electrosurgery, the electricity is used in the form of alternate
current that is generally used for producing radio waves the frequency of this
is very high. In this process, the current goes through the tissue of the body,
and thus an electric shock effect is created. This process is used when the
tissue needs a cut or it is to be coagulated or even if it is to be fused.
·
Another
major difference between the two procedures is that in Electrocautery the
devices that are used are generally small in size and are operated through a
battery. On the other hand, the devices used in the procedure of electrosurgery
are larger in size radio wave generators.
The differences have been discussed
well in detail if other than this any more information is needed in relation to
any medical device equipment then the person can ask for it from
the experts at Surgitek.
